“I Shall Not Hate” at UoG: A Man’s Inspiring Commitment to Peace in the Face of Unthinkable Tragedy

unnamed

We want to help spread the word about what is sure to be an extremely moving and inspiring event on campus coming up during Peace Week.

Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish witnessed an Israeli bomb kill three of his daughters and his niece in his Gaza Strip home moments before he was scheduled to be phone-interviewed on live television.  Six years after that anguished voice call, Dr. Abuelaish will be speaking at the University of Guelph on how he responded to unimaginable grief with a mission of peace and forgiveness, as he calls for reconciliation between Palestine and Israel.

Dr. Abuelaish, who himself was raised in a refugee camp, has won numerous humanitarian awards around the world and is the founder of “Daughters for Life”, a charity which provides scholarships and educational support to girls in the Middle East.  All donations from this event will go to “Daughters for Life”.

Great Turn-out At WUSC’s 2015 New Members Meeting!

Thanks to everyone who came by our New Members Event in the Brass Taps Keg Lounge tonight!  Our President Angela kicked off an awesome meeting/chat/snack break with some great background info about WUSC and showed us a moving video which shows, through the story of a past SRG student and their WUSC support person, how incredibly valuable an impact WUSC can make in students’ lives.

See you at our next meeting!

Couldn’t make it out tonight?  Still wondering what SRG and WUSC stands for?  No worries!  WUSC is always happy to welcome new members.  Drop by one of our weekly meetings Mondays @ 5:30 PM in MacKinnon 308 – there won’t always be amazing free food, but there’ll always be our amazing members : D
