Are you a University of Guelph student who is passionate about international development, refugee issues, community engagement, and meeting new people? Are you looking for an opportunity to get involved on campus next year, or looking to augment your volunteer experience? If this sounds like you, we want YOU to join our team for the 2014-2015 school year!
For more information about the SRP and WUSC’s programs, please explore the other pages of this website! As well, check out the national WUSC website HERE.
We are recruiting volunteers in 2014-2015 for:
1) The Executive of the Local Committee (LC) and
2) The Student Refugee Program (SRP)
Please note that the new SRP Coordinator will be hired before the other volunteer positions so that they can assist in interviewing for the other positions, as they will be working closely with the SRP Volunteer teams for 2014-2015.
Please direct any questions, as well as a cover letter and resume for your application, to firstname.lastname@example.org . If successful in your application, you will be asked to come for a short interview in person (or if that is not possible, via telephone or Skype), during the first week of March.
See more information below …
1) Information about the Executive positions:
WUSC is looking for 7 members on their executive. Please refer to the attachment “WUSC Executive Job Descriptions” and apply accordingly.
As a member of the executive team, you will oversee and engage with members of the Local Committee in the planning and organization of events and campaigns for WUSC’s programs, and connect with the Student Refugee Program volunteer teams in order to offer appropriate support.
2) Information about the Student Refugee Program positions:
WUSC will be sponsoring three students from refugee camps for the 2014-15 academic year and need NINE volunteers to join our team in helping to make their transition to life in Canada and at the University of Guelph the best as possible! In addition, we are also recruiting ONE person for the position of SRP Coordinator to help provide overall leadership to the process and to the volunteer team. These are more than just volunteer positions – they are an opportunity to meet new people and make new friends! Please review the attached job descriptions “Volunteer Support Person” and “SRP Coordinator” for more information.
Many former members of WUSC say that helping the new sponsored students adjust to life in Canada and at the University of Guelph is one of the most enriching experiences they’ve ever had!
We look forward to hearing from you!
