Thanks to those of you who came out to the new members meeting yesterday, hopefully you learned more about WUSC and what we do! If you have friends or people you know who may be interested in volunteering with us you are more than welcome to bring them to the next meeting!
One event coming up on the Guelph campus this semester is College Royal (the biggest campus open house in North America), and there is an opportunity for us to apply to manage the coat check for the College Royal Ball on March 9th. WUSC has done the coat check in the past, raising a lot of money for our organization (taking into account the cost of renting coat check equipment). This year the funds raised through coat check would go towards our Shine a Light program (see here for more details). According to College Royal, the payment will be $0.75 per ticket sold (up to 1350 tickets) and $1.00 per ticket after that.
What we need from you is a few hours of your time on March 9th (from 7:30 pm to 3:30 am, most likely in shifts) to volunteer for the coat check. In order to apply we need 20 people to volunteer for the coat check by this Friday, January 25th (when the application is due). If you commit to volunteering now and then find you can’t make it don’t worry, we just need 20 names by Friday and then we can do rearranging later.
